Gildan has a leading role in a sustainable and future environmental practices. The latest news about Gildan implemented in recent years is the operation of a biological water purification system in Honduras, one of the largest. The use of safe and clean energy-efficient manufacturing processes and inputs have also given high priority.

Gildan is one of the few companies in its industry that has defined guidelines and requirements for the delivery of all chemicals, colors and materials used in production. Deliveries are constantly monitored and approved by the responsible authority, all to not cause any adverse effects on health and environment., The production process is under constant control, to ensure reduced energy and water consumption and minimize pollutions.
In January 2003 the Gildan an environmental policy that involves a strong commitment to environmental protection and conservation of natural resources.

Ethics & Safety

Gildan has very high standards of ethics and work, they constantly strive to be a socially responsible employer. Gildans Social Compliance Program of the Labor designed order to ensure that all sites comply with their internal strict rules and local and international laws. The policy also follows Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production (WRAP) and the Fair Labor Association (FLA).

Gildans original WRAP certification resulted in a comprehensive and independent review conducted by Bureau Veritas Quality International.
WRAP is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion and certification of lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing throughout the world.

FLA

Gildan became accredited by the Fair Labor Association (FLA ) of 13 June 2007. Company was the first profile garment manufacturer to obtain accreditation .
FLA is a Washington-based nonprofit organization whose goal is to promote the accession to international labor standards and improve working conditions worldwide . It is a collaboration between businesses, universities and non -governmental organizations committed to a strict code of conduct in order to have manufacturing facilities to comply with FLA standards.

Gildans participation in FLA stands for credibility , clarity and shows open process to follow fair labor standards. The strict Workplace Code of Conduct checked out both internal and external independent audits.

FLA Code of Conduct focuses on important principles regarding core labor standards of the International Labor Organization . These include the prohibition of forced labor , child labor , harassment, abuse , discrimination, provisions for health and safety, the right of employees to freedom of association and collective bargaining, wages and benefits , overtime pay , as well as provisions regarding working hours and overtime .
